PHOENIX (AP) - Jury selection is set to begin in the trial of a California woman accused of brutally murdering her Mesa boyfriend because he was going to break up with her.
KTVK-TV reports that court proceedings are scheduled to start Monday in the trial of 31-year-old Jodi Arias.
According to police, Arias shot Travis Alexander in the face, stabbed him 27 times and slit his throat in early June 2008. Alexander's roommates later found his body in his shower.
Investigators say Arias, a photographer, gave them several versions of what happened but was linked to the scene by a blood hand print.
While Arias' defense team says this should not be a capital case, the death penalty is on the table.
