FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Northern Arizona authorities say a man has been arrested in the shooting death of his girlfriend, whose body was found inside a home near Flagstaff.
Coconino County Sheriff's officials say 19-year-old Maurice Holmes was taken into custody Friday night.
He's being held on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Alisha Joe of Flagstaff.
Her body was discovered about 11:30 a.m. Friday in Cosnino, a neighborhood east of Flagstaff off Interstate 40.
Sheriff's emergency dispatchers received the report that someone had been shot at the home.
They found Joe on the floor of a back bedroom and she was declared dead at the scene.
Authorities say Holmes was still at the scene, which is the home of one of his relatives.
It's unclear if Holmes has a lawyer yet.
