Christmas trees to raise help for troubled kids
Reporter: Craig Smith
ORO VALLEY, Ariz (KGUN9-TV) - Usually you find gifts under the Christmas tree. Here's a chance to turn the tree itself into a gift for troubled kids.
Eighteen beautifully decorated trees are a fundraiser for Gap Ministries, an organization that operates group homes for children in the custody of Child Protective Services.
They were up for auction at Oro Valley Marketplace Sunday. The auction ended by mid-afternoon, but there may still be a chance to buy one of the trees, or to help in other ways.
Tiane Kennedy of Gap Ministries says, "They can donate toys and gifts for the kids. They can help wrap gifts if they'd like to come help. We have about 300 gifts we have to have wrapped. Or we also do the tax credit, the charitable tax credit for the working poor."
A few trees may still be available through the Gap Ministries website.
