TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) Ironwood Ridge Linebacker Scott Simmons wins the High School Player of the Week Award following his performance in the state championship game.
Simmons had a third quarter interception return for a touchdown in the Nighthawks 27-3 win over Centennial. The senior was part of a defense that kept the Peoria school out of the end zone.
The Division 2 State Championship is the first football title for the Nighthawks, who won Saturday night's game at Sun Devil Stadium.
