SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A 21-year-old woman gave birth to a boy on Thanksgiving Day at the international border.
Officials with Customs and Border Protection tell KGUN9 that the woman told officers she needed medical assistance and they began to help her.
Officers called the San Luis Fire Department but the baby came before crews could arrive.
Within minutes, the woman went into labor and a female CBP officer assisted the woman with the delivery until paramedics arrived and took over.
The mother and child were taken to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
The officer who helped with the delivery said it was the "scariest but yet rewarding and amazing experience of my life."
