TEMPE (KGUN9-TV)- Ironwood Ridge won its first Division II State Football Championship on Saturday Night beating Peoria Centennial 27-3.
Centennial jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter on a 22-yard field goal from Joe Navarro, but shortly after that quarterback Tyler Williams threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to John Klass to make it 7-3, Ironwood Ridge led at the half and they never looked back.
The Nighthawks' defense was impressive, holding a team that averages 52 points per game, to just three.
This is the Nighthawks first ever state championship in school history.
