Shoppers stream into Tucson malls on Black Friday

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - When Santa shows up, you know the holiday shopping season is in full swing. The day after Thanksgiving, dubbed "Black Friday," brings out of the bulk of holiday shoppers. Friday, shoppers streamed into Tucson malls from all directions.
Black Friday mall-goers are casual shoppers. They're either running on fumes after hitting the big box stores at midnight or they're shopping out of curiosity -- curious about what they'll find and curious about the crowds.
Juan Valenzuela is one of the shoppers running on fumes. He drove to Phoenix Thursday, hoping to cash in on Black Friday bargains.
"We went to the Mills Mall and then we came back today to come [to the Tucson Mall]," Valenzuela told 9OYS.
9OYS caught up with Black Friday shoppers, Margaret Camarillo and Terry Smith. The sisters have been shopping on Black Friday for more than 16 straight years. They swear by the sales.
"I definitely would not go out at midnight. I would for sure wait until the morning cause you literally walk in a store. Check in and walk out," Smith said.
Veteran shoppers say the best time to shop on Black Friday is later on in the day. The idea? All of the die-hard Black Friday shoppers are home and in bed. As long as you don't have your heart set on a limited availability TV or must-have toy, odds are the items you're looking for will still be on store shelves.
