PHOENIX (AP) - Police say they've arrested a 35-year-old Phoenix man accused of kidnapping his estranged female partner last month and opening fire on an officer.
A Phoenix police spokesman says officers arrested Angel Padilla around 6 p.m. Sunday near 91st Avenue and Palm Lane.
Authorities say on Oct. 13, Padilla dragged his estranged partner from her home and drove away with her. When an officer tried to stop the car, police say Padilla fired an assault-style rifle at a patrol car. The officer and the woman were not seriously injured.
Padilla was also identified as a person of interest in an apparent home invasion robbery in October that left 67-year-old David Cardoza so badly injured he later died.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos says SWAT officers arrested Padilla Sunday without incident.
