Puppies die in Phoenix house fire

PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix firefighters say their efforts to save four puppies that were pulled from a burning home were unsuccessful.
Fire Department spokesman Jonathan Jacobs tells KNXV (http://bit.ly/WaYj2O) that the fire started Thursday morning in the home's garage. About 22 firefighters responded.
Neighbors say a resident went into the home to try to save the puppies. One was found alive. Firefighters used oxygen on the others, but Jacobs says they died of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
