PAULDEN, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say two horses and a dog died after the horse trailer they were traveling in collided with a train in the northern Arizona community of Paulden.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office says no person was injured when the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train collided with the trailer Sunday.
The driver of the truck towing the trailer was cited for failure to stop at a railroad crossing
Investigators say the driver said he didn't see the train or hear its horn and that his vision was limited because his windows were iced over.
The truck made it across the tracks, but the trailer didn't and was struck by the train's lead locomotive.
The truck received minor damages.
The crossing didn't have any gates but used signs to warn drivers.
