Deputies find chop shop during burglary case

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Sheriff's discover four stolen vehicles at a chop shop while investigating a burglary case. 
 
Deputies from the San Xavier District responded to a burglary report in the 5500 block of south Spencer Avenue at around 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department. 
 
Once on scene, deputies learned that a computer, a large number of weapons, jewelry, and other items had been taken, amounting to a total value of $29,000. 
 
During the investigation, detectives with the Burglary Unit obtained intelligence that led them to a home in the 2300 block of south Calle Hohokam.
 
Detectives requested assistance from the Pima Regional SWAT Team and served a warrant to the home. Once inside, several laptops were located, along with four stolen vehicles. The vehicles were in various stages of disassembly, and so the Sheriff's Auto Theft Unit responded to the scene. 
 
The owner of the property, 30-year-old Gary Lynn Nixon was located and arrested for an unrelated misdemeanor warrant. After being questioned, Nixon was also charged with four counts of theft of means of transportation and one count of owning and/or operating a chop shop. 
 
Detectives with the Burglary Unit are continuing their investigation.
