TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Deputies are investigating a vehicle they found fully engulfed in flames Friday night that had a person inside.

Anthony Walter Patrick Basher, 54, was found deceased in a burned out vehicle in the 4500 block of north Caminito Callado just before 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, according to Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies with the Rincon District were the first to respond to the scene. They discovered a Mercedes-Benz sedan fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from the Rural Metro Fire Department responded to the scene and put out the flames, according to Peine. Once the flames were out, deputies discovered that a body was sitting in the driver's seat of the vehicle.

Neighbors say they did not realize a person was inside the car because the flames were so high.

Investigators with the Sheriff's Traffic Unit and detectives with the Arson and Homicide Units responded to the scene.

The vehicle was registered to a man who was located out of town, but he told detectives he had a friend staying with him in Tucson.

Peine tells KGUN9 that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

If you have any information regarding this incident, deputies urge you to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
