PAYSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Game and Fish Department says up to a $10,000 reward is being offered to solve an elk poaching case near Payson.
Officers say two young bull elk and one cow elk were illegally shot and left to waste in the Chaparral Pines community late last month.
A fourth elk also was illegally shot and killed. That elk carcass was found Oct. 31 in the same area of Game Management Unit 22.
The Game and Fish Department's Operation Game Thief Program is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
An additional reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Arizona Elk Society for information leading to a conviction in the case.
