CD2 race between Barber, McSally still too close to call

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - As of Wednesday morning, there's still no definite answer about who will win Congressional District 2.
In the close race, Republican candidate Martha McSally leads Democratic congressman Ron Barber by a slim margin.
The latest figures show that only 1,312 votes separate Martha McSally and Ron Barber in the tight race for a spot in Congress. McSally has a 50.28 percent lead over Barber's 49.69 percent. Neither side has conceded.
Early Wednesday morning, McSally took to the podium to thank her supporters for staying at her side until the bitter end.
"We are incredibly enthusiastic that the trend is in our favor as you can see our stronghold in cochise county is holding in, we are expecting gains there. trends are going in our direction, that's for sure," she said.
Ron Barber paused while President Obama gave his acceptance speech, then thanked his supporters and told them it will take more time to decide Congressional District 2.
"All these things can be done, but only if we keep faith with our values," he said. "That's why we've fought long and hard because we all know that Arizona -- Southern Arizona -- is an uncommonly special place. So we'll continue to watch the results over the next few days, hours, days -- who knows -- and we will trust in the people of Southern Arizona as I have always trusted and always will."
