3 sentenced in Phoenix abuse case

PHOENIX (AP) - An Iraqi mother accused of beating her daughter in Phoenix for not going along with an arranged marriage has been sentenced to probation.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 50-year-old Yusra Farhan was sentenced Tuesday to two years of supervised probation with domestic violence terms.
She pleaded guilty last month to unlawful imprisonment.
Authorities say the 19-year-old woman was burned on her face and chest with a hot spoon after refusing to participate in an arranged marriage with a 38-year-old man. The victim was tied to a bed with a rope secured with a padlock until Feb. 8, when she was released to go to school.
The girl's father and sister also were arrested in the case. They've also been sentenced to two years of supervised probation with domestic violence terms.
