Crews battled northside mobile home fire

Firefighters from the Northwest Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire near River Road and Stone Avenue at around 12:00 p.m.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Firefighters battled smoke and flames coming from a mobile home fire on the northside.
Crews from the Northwest Fire Department, the Tucson Fire Department and Golder Ranch Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire at 101 W. River Road that started around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Adam Goldberg with the Northwest Fire Department.
Goldberg tells KGUN9 that fire was caused by an accidental electrical short that resulted in the loss of one cat, one dog and a bird. He says an additional dog and cat were found and saved.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but a father and son who were at the scene assisting with the effort were treated for minor smoke inhalation, according to Goldberg.
The damage is estimated at $40,000. It is unclear at this time whether the Red Cross of Southern Arizona will respond with assistance and aid. Stay will KGUN 9 On Your Side for more information.
