AZ high court justice forms campaign committee

PHOENIX (AP) - An Arizona Supreme Court justice who has been targeted by some Republicans and tea party activists in the Nov. 6 election says he'll fight to keep his seat.
Justice John Pelander formed a campaign committee on Friday. That a highly usual step for judges.
He says he's trying to counter what he calls a personal attack on him and a mischaracterization of a decision three members of the court made in September. He says that insults the high court's judicial integrity.
The Arizona Republic reports that fliers and web postings advocate a vote not to retain Pelander because he joined a decision allowing an initiative scrapping the two-party primary system to appear on next month's ballot.
Pelander is a Republican appointed to the high court by Gov. Jan Brewer.
