Scottsdale sex assault suspect could be released

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - A judge has ruled there's not enough probable cause to keep a suspect in two Scottsdale sexual assaults in jail, but police have now added drug charges in an effort to keep him behind bars.
Scottsdale police say 22-year-old Ryan Joseph Festa called his lawyer Thursday evening and arranged to surrender after seeing an artist's rendering police distributed to the media.
Festa's attorney confirmed the judge's ruling to the Arizona Republic after his client's Friday evening initial appearance in Maricopa County Superior Court.
Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said officers found marijuana in a search of Festa's apartment and police added a drug charge.
Police are awaiting DNA testing in an effort to link Festa to the Oct. 18 and Oct. 24 assaults of two women in their apartments.
