NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson man is in custody for allegedly trying to smuggle $90,000 in undeclared cash into Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were conducting outbound inspections through the Dennis DeConcini Port in southern Arizona.
They selected a pickup truck driven by 19-year-old Hugo Alejandro Egurrola-Vasquez for additional inspection and reported finding nine packages of currency hidden in a spare tire.
The vehicle and cash were processed for seizure. Egurrola-Vasquez was referred for prosecution. Authorities didn't immediately know Tuesday whether he had legal representation yet for his case.
