Glendale is planning $15M public-transit upgrade

PHOENIX (AP) - Planning has begun on a $15 million public-transit upgrade for north Glendale.
It will take the form of a park-and-ride and transit center, built separately or as a combined facility.
A park-and-ride is a place for transit users to safely park their cars and connect to another mode of transit, often an express bus.
The Arizona Republic says Glendale has only one park-and-ride right now.
A transit center is more for bus riders to catch local routes.
City transit officials say the design phase of the project should start sometime next spring.
Construction is planned for 2014 and 2015.
