TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire in the 900 block of S. 4th Avenue at 2 a.m. Monday morning.
A skateboard half-pipe was torched in the backyard of a home. The first TFD unit on the scene was able to extinguish the flames and protect the house to the south.
The house did sustain some damage to the wood fascia and a bedroom window, but TFD kept the fire from getting into the house. The half-pipe was heavily damaged and will no longer be safe to skateboard on.
It took eight units 21 minutes to get the fire under control. The cause of the fire had been a previous improperly extinguished warming fire in the backyard. There were no injuries and damages are yet to be estimated.
