Researchers catch rare fish at Grand Canyon

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - The last documented catch of a rare razorback sucker in the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon was in 1990.
That is until researchers sampling for fish caught one last week. The Arizona Daily Sun reports that the researchers had been using electricity to stun fish for short periods and sampling what floated to the top.
U.S. Bureau of Reclamation biologist Mark McKinstry believes the endangered fish might have traveled upstream some 50 miles from Lake Mead in Nevada.
Officials at the Grand Canyon say they're looking for ways to maintain the fish's presence in the Colorado River.
The razorback sucker is one of six fish species that once existed only in the arms and branches of the river.
