PHOENIX (AP) - New state grants will help pay for extra DUI and speed enforcement patrols by Maricopa County sheriff's deputies.
The Governor's Office of Highway Safety grants will help pay overtime expenses for deputies working on those patrols. Some of the money also will go to pay overtime costs for underage alcohol enforcement and prevention teams, drug recognition training and detention help.
The sheriff's office announced the $160,000 and $70,000 program grants on Thursday.
