TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Pima County Sheriff's Deputies and Tucson Police officers arrested a man who escaped from the Pima County Jail just after midnight on Thursday morning.
Deputy Tom Peine with the Pima County Sheriff's Department told KGUN9 that it was transporting Cesar Lowe to a different facility when he ran away from the facility on Mission and Silverlake around 7 p.m.
Peine said Lowe was neither handcuffed nor shackled because it was a minimum security facility. Deputies say he ran west into a neighborhood.
Lowe was in jail for car theft, a non-violent crime, Peine said. He was scheduled to be released in February 2013.
A previous version of this story spelled Cesar Lowe's last name incorrectly because it was first provided that way by the sheriff's department.
