Officer involved shooting in Tombstone kills teenage boy

TOMBSTONE, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A deputy with the Tombstone Marshal's Office shot and killed a 15-year-old boy who broke into a home early Saturday morning.
Carol Capas with the Cochise County Sheriff's Office tells KGUN9 that the Marshal's Office responded to the 1200 block of Camino San Rafael a little before 5 a.m. when they got a call that someone was trying to break in to a home.
Deputies arrived and found the 15-year-old Tombstone resident in the home with a firearm.
The Marshal Deputy shot at him, killing him.
Next of kin have been notified.
Cochise County Interim Sheriff Rod Rothrock said in a statement:
"It is a tragedy that we are experiencing so many deaths and/or injuries involving law enforcement in Cochise County within such a short amount of time. These instances only confirm that law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to protect the citizens that we serve. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the families affected by this latest incident, and the Sheriff’s Office will work quickly and thoroughly to bring closure to this investigation."
Detectives with the sheriff's office and the Sierra Vista Police Department are investigating the incident.
