BISBEE, Ariz (KGUN9-TV) - One man is in the hospital after Bisbee Police Officers fired shots at the man Tuesday night.

Carol Capas with the Cochise County Sheriff's Office tells KGUN9 that a man on a motorcycle would not stop for Bisbee police on Naco Highway.

Bisbee Police had an order of protection against the motorcycle rider, who had tried making contact with the protected person. That person then called police and said the rider was following her on his motorcycle.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the man accelerated to 100 mph in the Warren residential area. The motorcycle continued at that speed until he pulled off into a dirt area and stopped.

He then turned around his bike and headed back towards police officers and was driving straight towards one officer who was standing outside his vehicle.

The officer fired two rounds at the rider as he came directly towards him.

The rider continued to travel but eventually dropped his bike and ran to a residence in Naco, where the homeowner called 911.

The man was taken to University of Arizona Medical Center where he was treated and then released.

Bisbee Police plan to pursue criminal charges against the man.
