Southern Arizona making strides against breast cancer
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Southern Arizona is making strides to end breast cancer. Breast cancer is the leading cancer among women.
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
“We've helped over 1,100 newly diagnosed patients last year,” said American Cancer Society’s Nora McDonald.
To ensure it doesn’t turn away people, the American Cancer Society relies heavily on volunteers and donations.
Making Strides against Breast Cancer is a big fundraiser coming up in Tucson. Organizers hope the walk will raise $310,000 for the American Cancer Society.
“This community is very giving,” said Nadine Hanson with the American Cancer Society. “We hope they come out and support our cause.”
The Making Strides walk is October 28 at Kino Sports Complex.
