PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Jan Brewer is appointing a higher percentage of judges from her own party than the three previous Arizona governors.
An Arizona Republic review of Brewer's appointments since she took office in January 2009 shows 92 percent went to Republicans.
Records show records show that 75 percent of Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano's appointments were from the same party and 66 percent of Republican Gov. Jane Dee Hull's appointments were from the GOP. Republican Gov. Fife Symington's same-party appointment rate was 80 percent.
Brewer must choose between two Republicans and a Democrat to fill a Supreme Court vacancy by Oct. 19.
Spokesman Matt Benson says the governor appoints judges who match her judicial philosophy.
