TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A fire that started in a kitchen caused major damage to a home.
Capt. Barret Baker with Tucson Fire tells KGUN9 that crews responded to a home in the 6800 block of East 4th Street.
Several calls were made to 9-1-1 reporting smoke coming from the home, including a call from the resident that lived there.
It took eight units and twenty-one firefighters five minutes to control the fire.
There were no reported injuries to firefighters.
The resident told firefighters there had been a fire on the stove, which he had extinguished by himself. Thinking it was completely out, he did not call 9-1-1. A short time later, the resident noticed the heavy smell of smoke and then called 9-1-1.
