TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Alvin Valenzuela, 23, has plead guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 7-year-old Johnathan Federico back in 2011.
Anne-Marie Braswell with Pima County Superior Court tells KGUN9 that Valenzuela also plead guilty to aggravated assault of a minor and discharging a firearm at an occupied structure.
Valenzuela is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 5.
Braswell says he could be sentenced from 26 and 67 years for the charges.
Police told KGUN9 back in 2011 that Valenzuela began firing shots at a complex near Golf Links and Wilmot. An adult confronted Valenzuela who returned with gunfire. That's when police say, the boy ran outside through an open door and was shot at least once causing him to fall back into the apartment.
Paramedics transported Federico to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
