TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man already imprisoned for a 2008 murder has been accused in the unrelated killing of a woman in Tucson a decade ago.
Tucson police announced Tuesday that 37-year-old Saul Virgen is facing a first-degree murder charge.
They say Virgen has been linked to the fatal stabbing of 58-year-old Herlinda Pariseau on Sept. 6, 2002.
Virgen already is serving time for stabbing a Tucson man to death in 2008. Virgen has been in prison since April for second-degree murder and weapons misconduct.
Police say detectives received new information in the Pariseau case in May 2011 and that ultimately led to an arrest.
Virgen had his initial appearance Tuesday in Pima County Superior Court where he was arraigned. Authorities didn't immediately know Tuesday night whether Virgen has an attorney yet.
