Tonopah dog breeder is accused of animal cruelty

PHOENIX (AP) - A breeder is in custody and accused of animal cruelty after authorities removed 27 dogs from his property in Tonopah.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant Tuesday morning at the home of 46-year-old Mark Robinson.
Officials say the 27 dogs showed signs of tick infestation or appeared to be severely malnourished and underweight.
They say about 40 dogs were on Robinson's property as he also boards dogs as well as breeds them.
Authorities say Robinson was arrested on suspicion of nine counts of animal cruelty and failure to provide medical care. It was unclear Tuesday night whether he has a lawyer.
All 27 dogs are in the custody of the sheriff's office. Once they are returned to health, the dogs will be made available for adoption.
