TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Border Patrol agents seized almost 1,190 pounds of marijuana during patrol duties Monday.
Officials with Customs and Border Protection tell KGUN9 that the Casa Grande's Border Patrol Motorcycle Unit arrested seven smugglers and seized 11 bundles of marijuana. The estimated value of the drugs is $294,000.
After that, the ATV unit, assisted by canine teams, disrupted a drug-smuggling load and found more than 600 pounds of pot abandoned near the border.
That seizure's estimated value is $301,000.
All the drugs will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the seven smugglers arrested face prosecution.
