TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A language barrier helped prevent a bank robbery this morning.

According to police, a suspected robber was unsuccessful in his attempt to rob Wells Fargo Bank at 5535 East 22nd Street.

An unknown male approached the Wells Fargo teller. He gave the teller a note in which he demanded money and threatened harm. He then verbally demanded money in Spanish, but the teller could not understand him. Another teller arrived and denied money to the suspect. He left the bank quickly after.

The suspect was last seen headed eastbound on foot across South Craycroft Road.

No one was injured during the attempted robbery. Robbery Unit detectives were continuing the investigation.

The suspect was described as a five-foot-seven Hispanic male in his forties, with brown eyes. He was wearing a camouflage baseball hat, a white t-shirt, dark pants and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through the Tip Soft program.
