Glendale parents sue over 'cool-down room'

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Two parents are suing an Arizona school district after their son was placed in what school officials call a "cool-down room."
The child's mother, Leslie Noyes, tells television station KTVK that the cool-down room is more like a prison cell with padded walls and no windows.
Leslie and Eric Noyes are suing the Deer Valley Unified School District for an unspecified amount. They claim their 7-year-old son suffered emotional and physical injuries after being restrained and secluded in the room.
The mother says she received a call that her son, a student at Desert Sage Elementary, was acting up. She claims no one told her he was placed in seclusion.
Using seclusion rooms is legal in Arizona, and each school district has its own policies. Deer Valley requires parents to be notified.
Citing the pending litigation, the district declined to comment.
