GOP chose replacement on ballot for Dever

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Following the death of Sheriff Larry Dever, the Republican party voted for a replacement on the November ballot.
Mark Dannels, a former Deputy Commander for the Cochise County Sheriff's Office was placed on the ballot to run for sheriff in November, according to news organization Cochise Talk.
Dannels will only be opposed if a write-in candidate gets more votes in the general election.
Write-in's have until September 27 to file the necessary paperwork.
Matt Creegan, the chairman of the Cochise County Rebpulican committee, told 9OYS that he called for a special meeting with committee members to vote on one person to put on the ballot for sheriff.
The meeting was originally slated for Sunday, but was rescheduled for Thursday because ballots will be printed this weekend.
