Woman gets 42-month prison sentence after pleading guilty

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A woman was sentenced to more than three years in prison after she pleaded guilty to multiple charges involving a vehicle accident. 
 
Shea Nunez, 36, was recently sentenced to 42 months in federal prison after she pleaded guilty to child abuse and vehicular assault causing serious bodily injury July 5th, according to Bill Solomon with the U.S. Attorney's Officer, District of Arizona. 
 
Nunez was a member of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
 
According to the plea agreement, Nunez was on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation when she crossed the center line while driving northbound on Mission Road January 30, 2010.
 
After crossing the center line, she collided head-on with a vehicle in the southbound lane that was carrying three occupants. All three occupants sustained serious bodily injuries.
 
A four-year-old child in Nunez's vehicle, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, also sustained serious bodily injuries and blood alcohol testing revealed that Nunez had a BAC of .306, nearly four times the legal limit, according to Solomon.
