TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Students at Banks Elementary School located at 3200 South Lead Flower Avenue are not able to leave the school due to severe flooding in the area.
Cara Rene with TUSD tells KGUN9 that buses at the school cannot leave until washes clear.
Deputies will determine when it will be safe for buses to depart. There are currently roadblocks up in the area preventing vehicles from entering or leaving the area.
Students are with teachers and will remain inside the school until the area is cleared.
Parents can call the school at (520)908-5700 for updates.
Staff at the school are currently trying to call each parent and make them aware of the situation. Lines may be busy and patience is requested, said Rene.
TUSD School Safety Officers are working collaboratively with the Sheriff's Department and TUSD Director of Transportation to ensure the safety of our students.
