GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - The mother of an Arizona girl who's been missing since October has been re-arrested in the case.
Glendale police say Jerice Hunter was taken into custody Thursday afternoon and is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and child abuse. Police have scheduled a news conference for later in the day.
Investigators believe the body of 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley was disposed of days before Hunter reported her missing on Oct. 11.
A 96-day search at a Phoenix-area landfill ended in late June without finding the girl's remains.
Hunter was arrested in November on suspicion of child abuse. She later was released from jail and the charge dropped after prosecutors said they wanted to investigate further.
Police say Hunter previously served time in a California prison for abusing her older children.
