Nogales, Sonora unveils wastewater treatment plant

NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) - Nogales and Sonora official have cut ribbon on the new Los Alisos Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The Nogales International reports that new plant will have the initial capacity to treat 5 million gallons of sewer water a day and take some of the pressure off the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant in Rio Rico.
The project is designed to allow the city of Nogales and Sonora to provide treated water to more of its homes and neighborhoods.
The Los Alisos plant will also feature an on-site photovoltaic solar plant with an installed peak capacity of 902 kW. It is designed to connect to the Mexican grid through an existing distribution line and supply all the electricity needs of the plant.
