TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The FBI needs the public's help identifying and catching a serial bank robber.
An unknown Caucasian man has been making his way across Arizona robbing banks in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Tucson and Green Valley since mid-June, according to Manuel Johnson, Media Coordinator for the FBI Phoenix Division.
The man is described as a white male between the ages of 45 and 55-years-old standing approximately five-feet, 10 inches tall.
He has a medium build, grey-brown hair, a grey goatee, overly tan skin and rough hands.
He is also known to smell like cigarette smoke, prompting the FBI to dub him Smokey the Bandit, according to Johnson.
Johnson says that during each robbery, the man enters a bank wearing a hat and sunglasses. He hands a threatening note to the teller to obtain cash.
Recently, the man has been seen fleeing banks in a silver, two-door Ford pick-up truck that has a rectangular emblem or advertisement on the driver's side door.
If you have seen this man or have any information about the subject, you are urged to call the FBI at 623-466-1999. You can also provide information by visiting www.BanditTrackerArizona.com.
