TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Congressman Ron Barber toured a Tucson Police station Thursday afternoon, hoping to learn more about the department’s needs.
Nine On Your Side wants to know: How will the Congressman’s visit improve public safety?
He toured the Hardesty Station in midtown, which houses police emergency, SWAT and bomb squad command posts.
Barber said he learned about federal funding that TPD used to have and now does not. He cited a recent $4 million cut.
"We have to protect what we’ve got and we have to go after that which we’ve lost and make sure that we don’t see further cuts down the road," he says. "That’s one of the reasons I came today."
Barber is a member of the Homeland Security committee. He says he’ll take what he learned back to Washington.
