6 people treated for heat at Ariz. Palin event

GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) - Medical rescue teams in Gilbert have treated six people who were overcome by the heat at a campaign event attended by former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
   
KPHO-TV reports that Gilbert Fire Department spokesman Mike Conner says one person was taken to the hospital on Monday. He says the others, ranging in age from 36 to 91, were treated at the scene.
   
The former Alaskan governor spoke at a rally for Congressional candidate Kirk Adams at Joe's Farm Grill.
   
Palin made mention of the heat during her opening comments. She said many Alaskans come to Arizona to "thaw out."
   
Temperatures reached a high of 106 in Gilbert on Monday.
