PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - New residential sewer connection fees will reduce on average by 35 percent, after the Pima County Board of Supervisors voted to amend the county code, according to county officials.

The Board of Supervisors voted to create a more equitable system based on water meter size, rather than the number of fixture units.

Those who paid connection fees earlier this year will also benefit as the county will implement procedures for issuing connection fee refunds for the difference after the new fees are calculated.

This applies to customers who paid connection fees between May 15 and June 30 of this year.

Customers who paid connection fees between Jan. 1 and May 14 will receive credits toward future connection fees, that will be worth 50 percent of the difference between the fee paid, and the new fee calculation.

Those refunds and credits will only be issued to customers who complete an application.

The application will be available starting Sept. 20, either online or in person on the first floor of the public works building at 130 W. Congress, 10th floor.
