TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - A new Arizona State University report shows Arizona is fourth in the nation in job growth and Phoenix holds the same place among major cities.
The report by Professor Lee McPheters at ASU's business school shows the state outpaced the national average of 1.4 percent job growth by a full percentage point between July 2011 and July 2012. Phoenix also tied for fourth place among major cities with a nearly 3 percent increase in the number of jobs created.
McPheters says he expects Arizona to rank among the top 10 states for job growth this year.
That would be a big improvement from the 2010 ranking of No. 49 in employment growth.
