After 18 years, a courageous Tucson teen has found her match

Lizzie Bell has finally found a bone marrow donor.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - For 18 years, Lizzie Bell has been getting blood transfusions every two weeks and hoping for the perfect bone marrow donor match. Finally, it has happened.

KGUN 9 viewers may remember Lizzie when her family was featured on Extreme Makeover, Home Edition.Lizzie has Diamond Black Fan Anemia which is a rare blood condition that requires frequent transfusions. Aside from that, what she really has needed is finding the perfect bone marrow donor match to save her life which isn't easy.

 

Her mom told KGUN 9 on Sunday, that right now Lizzie's liver is too weak to get the transplant, so they're hoping to do it next summer.
