"Deferred Action" applications available today

TUCSON (KGUN9 TV/AP) - Today is the day an estimated 1.2 million illegal immigrants can apply to stay in the United States - without the threat of deportation - for at least two years.
To qualify for President Obama's Deferred Action plan, illegal immigrants:
- Must be younger than 30, and brought to the U.S. before age 16
- Can't pose a criminal or security threat
- Must be a sucessful student or military veteran
- Must be able to prove they've live continuously in the U.S. for 5 years
The Department of Homeland Security says illegal immigrants must provide passports, school transcripts, and medical or financial records to prove they are eligible for the program.
There is a $465 fee to apply. You can download the applications for Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals here.
In response to the launch of President Obama's Deferred Action Program, the office of Governor Jan Brewer issued an executive order reaffirming denial of public funds disbursement to those receiving Deferred Action status.
