PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have released the identity of a Chandler man who drowned while tubing in the Salt River.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old John George died Saturday afternoon.

George became separated from the group he was tubing the river with, let his raft go and tried to swim upstream.

Witnesses tell the sheriff's office that they believe George became exhausted and went under the water.
