Motorcycle crash at Oracle and 1st turns fatal

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - An elderly male is dead after his motorcycle was struck in a multi-vehicle accident Saturday.
Golder Ranch EMTs responded to the intersection of Oracle Road and First Avenue just after 4:00 p.m. Saturday and discovered that a 62-year-old male had be hit while riding his motorcycle, according to Lt. Kara Riley with the Oro Valley Police Department and Josh Hurguy with the Golder Ranch Fire District.
While stopped at a red light on Oracle Road, the 62-year-old male was fatally struck from behind by a white pickup truck, according to Riley.
The motorcyclist was then struck by another vehicle after he was knocked off of his motorcycle.
He was wearing his helmet at the time of the incident, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The patient was transported in a Golder Ranch ambulance to University Medical Center.
Paramedics remained at the scene to assess other passengers and Oro Valley traffic investigators closed northbound Oracle Road at Pusch View Lane until 7:00 p.m. Saturday night.
According to Lt. Chris Olsen with the Oro Valley Police Department, Oracle Road has been reopened.
