FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a body found inside a crashed pickup truck near the bottom of a Gila County canyon was that of a missing Apache Junction man.

Pinal County Sheriff's officials say the family of 58-year-old Jeffrey Block reported him missing July 26. That's after he failed to return home from a trip to Show Low with his dog Blue.

Block's truck was discovered Wednesday by a search volunteer near the bottom of a 1,000-foot canyon off U.S. Highway 60.

Authorities say the dog's carcass was found Thursday near the windshield of the truck.

They say Block and his dog have been taken to a Globe mortuary. They will be cremated together and their ashes will be spread in Colorado on the property of Block's grandfather.
